1995 YJ 2.5L fuel problem. When I try to start my jeep the starter is cranking the motor but no fuel, if I leave the key in the on position I will hear the fuel pump kick on 30 seconds and sometimes up to 15 min. later and then I can start it. The reason the manufacturer went to an electric pump was because of fuel injection. So I would say if the correct fuel filter for your CJ does not have a fuel return port, you do not need or have one. Just trace the lines you have unused and see if ...stimpy. You can either drop the tank or make a clever access hole. Just don't blow yourself up. When you fix the lines be sure and use fuel injection line not regular rubber hose. And use fuel injection hose clamps, the regular clamps like to dig into the hose and weaken it. The return line connects to the extra nipple in the sending unit on the top of the gas tank. The lower outflow line on the filler goes to the carb.
